Jeep JL Wrangler Review

Jeep JL: A Sophisticated Take on the Classic Wrangler

Jeep has done it again, delivering a vehicle that is every bit a Wrangler as the JK and even the Tj but with a sophisticated touch. The JL is a true testament to the brand's commitment to providing a quality off-roading experience. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the upgrades and frustrations of the Jeep JL.

Upgrades to Appreciate

  1. Improved Turning Circle: Jeep has finally addressed the issue of the turning circle in the JL. The four-door 4by now has an acceptable turning radius, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

  2. Better Ground Clearance: The JL has improved ground clearance, making it easier to get in and out of the vehicle.

  3. Smoother 8-Speed Auto Transmission: The 8-speed automatic transmission is silky smooth, providing a more comfortable driving experience.

  4. Fuel Economy: The fuel economy on a stock petrol engine is impressive, with a combined cycle of 11.5 over a 900 km drive. The engine only revs at 1400 rpm at 100 km/h, which contributes to its fuel efficiency.

  5. Improved Storage: The JL has improved storage, with larger door nets, a better center console, and a roomier trunk.

  6. Easy-to-Use Features: The Freedom Top Panels are now easier to remove, and the rear seats can be folded down with ease. The factory reverse camera is also a welcome addition.

  7. Beefier Components: The track bar mounts, steering components, and diffs are now beefier, providing a more stable off-roading experience.

Frustrations to Consider

  1. Wind Noise: The wind noise in the JL is worse than the JK, which is a significant drawback.

  2. Lack of Footrest: Jeep still hasn't added a footrest, which can be frustrating for some drivers.

  3. Poor Stereo Sound: The sound quality of the stereo in the Wrangler Sport is average.

  4. Loud Engine Fan: The engine fan is louder than the JK, which can be distracting.

  5. Steering Performance: The electric power steering doesn't feel much different, but only time will tell if it is durable.

  6. Poor Highway Ride: The JL still wanders at highway speeds, which can be disappointing for some drivers.

In conclusion, the Jeep JL is a benchmark off-roader that others will struggle to replicate. While it has its frustrations, the upgrades make it a worthwhile investment for those who daily drive their Jeeps. Whether you're an experienced off-roader or a casual driver, the JL is sure to impress.
